Today we all use a mobile application to guide us in large cities.
However, some studies show that both tourists and residents still find some difficulty in orienting themselves in a big city.
The LeerMadrid project of the company Paisaje Transversal, has recently incorporated in Madrid a device called “wayfinding”, already installed in other cities such as London, Rio de Janeiro, New York, etc.

The City Council of Madrid has supported this initiative that together with pedestrian mobility aims to encourage the influx of pedestrians in specific areas of the city such as Gran Vía and other places of interest, expanding successively to the rest of the city.
This combined with a sustainable transport will make the city a more dynamic, positive and ecological place, focused on the interest and welfare of the people.

The “wayfinding” aims to provide information in real time of signaling and location to improve the orientation of pedestrians in the city.
A universal design so that the signage is accessible to everyone. The “wayfinding” places the pedestrian at the center of urban life.
The device uses sensory perception and interaction stimuli to identify areas of interest in real time and updated. It aims to facilitate people to understand in a cognitive and easy way the environment where they are and how to interact to move through it.

This system applies digital screens located at key points in the city, such as inter-stations, subway, stations, etc. It offers information maps in real time about buses, metro, bicycle rental or pedestrian mobility. It also shows all kinds of announcements and information about events, leisure and shopping centers.
Recognizing objects and buildings, identifies the exact area where the pedestrian is located. Once chosen the destination, proposes a route to follow. Through active and direct tracking the device controls that the route is correct. Arrived at the exact point, sensorial alerts the achievement of the destination.
